That musty smell?
It's mold in the gasket.
Front-load washers trap water, lint, and detergent in the rubber door seal — the perfect home for black mold and mildew. We deep-clean the gasket, kill the mold at the source, and stop the smell from coming back.
Why it matters
The smell isn’t the washer. It’s the gasket.
Front-load washers are sealed by a thick rubber door gasket that traps water, lint, and detergent after every cycle — the ideal breeding ground for the black mold and mildew behind that musty smell. Cleaning it at the source is the fix.
The seal stays wet
The rubber gasket holds water after every wash. That trapped moisture is exactly what mold and mildew need to take hold and spread.
Detergent & lint feed it
Leftover detergent, fabric softener, and lint collect in the folds of the seal — a steady food source that keeps the mold coming back.
The smell gets into your clothes
Once mold is established in the gasket, that musty odor transfers to every load — so clean laundry comes out smelling anything but fresh.
It can reach the door and drum
Left long enough, mold spreads past the seal. Cleaning it early keeps a quick gasket service from turning into a bigger problem.
Especially worth it for
- Front-load washers with a musty or mildew smell
- Visible black mold around the door seal
- Annual maintenance for front-load washer owners
What we do
Three sprays, a gel, and one tablet.
Every visit runs the same four-step treatment on the door seal. The sprays are our own solutions — mixed in-house, refined job after job, and chosen to draw as much mold as possible out of the rubber without cracking, drying, or otherwise damaging the seal. What's in them stays our secret; what they do is the point.
First solution, scrubbed in
We spray the gasket with the first of our in-house solutions and work it into every fold with a scrub brush, then dry the rubber down.
Second solution, dried again
A second solution goes over the whole seal to keep breaking down what the scrub loosened — then we dry the gasket down again.
Third finishing formula
Our third formula treats the clean rubber so the seal isn't just mold-free when we pack up — it's a much harder place for mold to move back into.
Mold-stain remover gel
Wherever staining still shows on the rubber, we coat it with mold-stain remover gel and leave it on to keep working after the visit.
Then one step for you: the tablet
We leave you a machine-cleaning tablet on the way out. About 4 hours after the gel goes on, drop it in the empty drum — no clothes, no detergent — and run the machine's tub-clean cycle. Once that cycle finishes, the washer is ready for regular laundry.
One honest note: removing the black stains isn't guaranteed. Stains soak into the rubber itself, so on most jobs they fade a little rather than disappear — but the mold in and around them is completely gone.

What to look for
Pull back the fold. This is what hides there.
Fold back the rubber lip on your front-loader’s door seal and look underneath. These photos show what collects out of sight — if yours looks anything like this, it’s exactly the job we handle.

See the difference
Mold gone. Gasket clean.
The mold is fully removed and the seal comes back clean and treated. The black staining usually fades a little too — we don’t promise it disappears, because stain soaks into the rubber itself.

Pricing
Simple pricing. No surprises.
A focused, single-appliance visit. $149.99 within 3 miles of our South Brooklyn shop, $199.99 beyond (the difference covers travel time) — and adding a dryer vent cleaning keeps the gasket at $149.99 anywhere we go.
Straight talk
The mold is guaranteed gone — we don’t call the job done until every trace is removed. The black stains it leaves behind are a different story: stain soaks into the rubber itself, so we can’t guarantee it disappears. On most jobs the staining fades a little after the treatment — what you’re left with is a mold-free, treated seal, sometimes with a shadow where the worst of it sat. And if your gasket is torn or perished and needs replacing, we’ll tell you straight and can quote it, rather than charge you for a clean that won’t hold.

I knew something was up when my clothing was taking forever to dry but when the check vent light went on I knew it was a fire hazard. Eyal responded to my text in minutes, booked an appointment on the spot for the next day and showed up on time. He didn't mind that I was standing over to watch the whole process and boy was it satisfying. I couldn't believe the lint that was living in the dryer, behind the wall and at the exit vent on the side of my house. This is not the DIY job you think it is. well worth the visit!
ABOVE & BEYOND!!! Vent Pro is the only way to go when it comes to cleaning your dryer vent. The service of these top shelf professional with Eli at the helm took care and gave so much support and I would highly recommend them. You will never regret making them you choice.
Patricia C.Google · Local GuideEli from Ventpro was not only knowledgeable but also extremely kind. As a woman at home with a small child I felt super safe with Eli which is always a concern with people coming to service the home. He did the job, cleaned up afterwards and also left me with some great tips for our washer even though he came to fix the dryer. Will have him come back again and again.
Chinae A.Verified Google reviewAmazing service and very friendly serviceman. Very fair price compared to other companies, he went above and beyond removing a bird's nest from our pipe (as shown in the photos) and didn't charge extra from the price I was told over the phone. He also answers text messages which is a bonus. He came to the rescue very quickly, and he also resolved the issue in no time. He informed me that the landlord should be responsible for the payment. Highly recommend!
Shirly G.Verified Google reviewFantastic, professional service! Eyal provided excellent dryer vent cleaning, with options offered at fair pricing. A nice person too, being flexible when our schedule had to change due to circumstances beyond our control, accommodating all our needs on the day of our service.
Shari S.Google · Local GuideWe would definitely recommend Vent pro NYC. Eyal is very nice, professional, and accommodating. It is always easy to schedule an appointment with him and he does a great job. I can rest assured that my dryer vent is clean and safe after he leaves.
Muriel B.Verified Google reviewHe was so professional, and clean. This is a must for every household to do yearly!
Mariel D.Verified Google reviewMy dryer was taking 90+ minutes to dry a load of clothing. I wasn't sure if I needed a new dryer or just a good cleaning. Eyal came, right away I might add, and said he would check first to see if it's working because he wouldn't charge me for cleaning a broken dryer. Once he confirmed that my dryer was fine he went in and did a thorough cleaning. I can't believe the lint that was coming out of my dryer! He did an excellent job and will definitely recommend him and use him again!
SheriGoogle · Local GuideEyal was very professional. Arrived with all necessary equipment about 15 mins earlier than appointment time. Did a very good job and cleaned out our dryer vents. He took the time to explain how to maintain it and also cleaned up by vacuuming the debris. Very pleasant person to deal with. I have already booked complete duct cleaning with his company.

Pets in the house? Your dryer vent fills up faster.
Dogs and cats mean more hair — and it doesn’t all end up on the couch. Pet beds, blankets, towels, and fur-covered clothes shed fibers that pack into your dryer vent far faster than in a pet-free home. A clogged vent means longer drying, higher energy bills, more wear on the machine, and a real fire risk.
- One or two moderate sheddersevery 6–8 mo
- Multiple pets or heavy sheddersevery 3–6 mo
- Washing pet bedding weeklyevery 3–4 mo
Most pet-free homes only need a yearly cleaning.
- Clothes need more than one cycle to dry
- The dryer runs hot to the touch, or gives off a burning smell
- Little or no air from the outside vent while it’s running
- A faint pet-fur smell in the laundry room when the dryer’s running
