Condenser, heat-pump and all-in-one washer-dryers don’t blow air outside, so they never connect to a vent. If any of these describe yours, it’s ventless — and this is the cleaning it needs.
- There's no hose running from the back of the dryer to a wall vent.
- It has a water tank — usually a drawer at the top left — or a drain hose.
- A flap at the bottom front hides the condenser.
- The label says “condenser” or “heat pump”.
- One machine washes and dries: every all-in-one washer-dryer is ventless.

What we find
The lint trap catches most of it. Not all of it.
A ventless dryer dries by condensing the moisture out of hot air inside the machine instead of blowing it outside. That means the filter area, the condenser and the water path stay damp.
Lint that gets past the lint trap settles on those damp surfaces, and buildup collects in places most owners rarely look — like the condenser behind the bottom flap.
