Why a booster
Some vents are longer than any dryer can push.

Every foot fights the dryer
A dryer's blower is built for a short hop to an outside wall — most are only rated for roughly 35 feet of duct, and every elbow eats several feet of that. Brownstone wall runs and roof runs blow past it.
So clothes come out damp
When the air can't get out fast enough, heat and moisture stay in the drum. That's the second cycle, the hot laundry room, and the energy bill creeping up.
And lint settles in the line
Slow-moving air drops its lint along the way instead of carrying it out. Long runs clog faster, which slows the air further — the problem compounds.
