The first five are mechanical: parts out, scrubbed, jets cleared one at a time, the door seal and the bottom edge of the door worked by hand. The last two are what a cleaner tablet does, done after the machine is actually clean rather than instead of it. The one wrinkle is a standalone visit far from home base, and it's the same rule we use for washer gasket cleaning. If the dishwasher is the only thing we're coming for and you're more than about 3 miles from our South Brooklyn shop, the visit totals $199.99 to cover the trip. Online bookings take a $50 deposit to hold the slot, and it comes off the invoice.
What you're comparing it against
There are really three alternatives, and each is the right answer for somebody.
Doing it yourself. A citric-acid dishwasher cleaner costs a few dollars, and the filter twists out with no tools. If your machine just needs maintenance, that's genuinely enough, and we say so in the explainer above. Where it falls short is the parts that take time and a bit of nerve: clearing spray-arm jets one at a time, working the gasket folds and the bottom edge of the door, and clearing the drain area under the filter housing. Most people do the tablet and skip the rest, which is why the smell comes back.
A repair call. If the machine won't drain, has standing water after a cycle, has stopped mid-wash, or isn't heating, you need a technician, not a cleaning. No amount of scrubbing fixes a pump. We don't do that work, and we'll tell you if it's what you need.
